Raices del Sol is a unique 250 acre integrative farm and stunning private wildlife refuge settled in a remote location in Costa Rica in one of the most biologically diverse spots in the world. We aim to create the conditions for the development and growth of qualities in us which do not grow in our ordinary existence and are missing in conventional modern lives.
Our vision consists in creating a context of harmonious, sustainable, and meaningful living. We’d like Raices del Sol to be a place where open-minded people from all over the world live an intense, diverse, and authentic experience of alternative living, personal development and growth, and hands-on education in a broad range of fields.
Our starting community is run by a small family with 2 small children along with long-term members from across the globe, local Costa Ricans, and a substantial group of interns, volunteers, and visitors. We run life changing programs and courses year round – currently primarily focusing in the fields of integrative farming, natural building, and sustainable forestry.
On our farm we grow and eat real, nutritious and traditional food as we continue to develop our food forest and animal-centric farmstead. The diversity of our production is unmatched as we near our aim of a self-sustaining operation. We have never bought any commercial product of any kind as fertilizer or for pest control and we’ve never purchased commercial feed for our animals either.
Forestry is also a major aspect of our operations, producing all of our timber needs and plenty enough to sell sustainable wood as we continue to plant trees and care for our amazing forests.
