As part of our numerous and multi-sided educational aims, we’ve made RDS open to volunteering. We’re committed to continue to transform lives in a way we consider real. Volunteers experience life-changing breakthroughs and gain real-life skills so crucial in our changing world.
Raices del Sol is a unique 250 acre integrative farm located in the most stunning private wildlife refuge in Costa Rica. The farm is run by a family with 2 small children along with long-term members from across the globe, local Costa Ricans, and a substantial group of interns, volunteers, and visitors. We run programs and courses year round – currently primarily focusing in the field of natural building and integrative farming.
In order to join RDS as a farm volunteer you must have significant previous experience in at least one of the following fields:
- farming & animal husbandry, organic and biodynamic farming, permaculture, and other alternative agriculture approaches
- natural horsemanship
- horse-powered farming
- carpentry and wood working
- natural building
- alternative education (such as Waldorf education for example or music, dance, etc)
- we may consider other experience/skills such as secretarial skills, writing, or web programming
If you don’t have significant experience in any of these fields consider joining our internship program. The experience will change your life forever.
You are self motivated, hard working, and have a strong desire to live an outdoorsy life style in a diverse community with all that this entices. Volunteering at RDS isn’t your typical experience! We’re a working farm and we’re not in need of cheap labor. If you’re dedicated to finding a different way of life and you’re passionate about RDS’s ideas, we’d love to meet you.
A few practical details:
Incredible food: All meals provided week-long.
Gorgeous accommodations: Beautiful and very comfortable rooms in one of our natural structures.
Schedule: Everyone at RDS participates in the communal flow of life and work. There’s no set number of hours a week per say and you can take your experience and your involvement to whatever level you want.
